Edge VM setup and performance

I ordered an Edge Virtual Machine instance for a small project. The ordering process was straightforward on their site. Setup took about 15 minutes to get the VM configured and running. Performance was good, I tested it from a few locations and latency was low. Support replied to a billing question in about an hour, which was decent. Delivery of the service itself was immediate, no waiting once the VM spun up. Overall, it delivered as expected.

Good value with credit

I signed up for a Content Delivery Network service after seeing the $100 credit. It was easy to apply that to my account. The CDN worked well enough for what I needed and I didn't pay anything out of pocket for the first month. Felt like a good deal to try it out without commitment.

Consistent WAF protection

I've been using their Web Application Firewall for a while now, probably close to a year. This latest renewal was as smooth as previous ones. I set it up initially for a specific site and it's been consistently blocking malicious traffic without issues. It feels reliable. I also have an SSL Certificate through them and that's always renewed automatically, which is nice. I keep coming back because it just works and I haven't had any unexpected downtime or security breaches linked to their service. The interface is familiar now.

Thinking about trying out StackPath for my small biz. Is there a way to test it out without paying upfront? Like a free trial or something?

R Ryan 3 months ago
Yeah, they usually have a free trial for new users. I got a month free when I signed up last year.

They also give you like $100 in credits sometimes, saw it mentioned for new accounts. Just check during signup.

I'm looking at StackPath for my CDN, but also checking out Cloudflare. Anyone have experience with both? Is StackPath actually better for anything specific?

S Steve Osei 3 months ago
It really depends on what you need. I've used both. StackPath's edge computing stuff is pretty cool, better for really low latency applications I think.

Cloudflare has a more generous free tier for basic stuff, but for advanced security or custom edge functions, StackPath might be worth it. Their WAF is pretty robust from what I've seen.
